Nickel City Lofts: An Adaptive Reuse in the Heart of Buffalo

Residents of Buffalo, NY take pride in their historically rich city. Buffalo is filled with breathtaking architecture and diverse cultures, so it’s no surprise that the city is progressing towards becoming a booming epicenter within the state of New York. Glendale Communities, a property management company with over 4,000 apartment units throughout Western New York and Rochester, aims to continue this progress even further, purchasing many historic properties and returning them to their original glory–all while creating new housing opportunities for the ever-growing Buffalo population.

The newest addition to the Glendale Communities portfolio was the Nickel City Lofts, located at 31 Barker Street in downtown Buffalo. Deemed an “adaptive reuse” property, this building once stood as a warehouse that housed Kepa3 Gallery and Peter Fowler Studio but has since been repurposed to hold 21 market-rate luxury lofts along with commercial space. The units were open for rent in the summer of 2018.

Luxury Living in Downtown Buffalo

These unique 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units boast features like high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and stainless steel appliances. Each unit is different, but they all have one thing in common: simplistic luxury in a good location. Nickel City Lofts are located right down the street from a Delta Sonic, which includes a convenient grocery market and Dunkin Donuts right inside. They’re also in walking distance to the NFTA Metro-Rail and the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus–a perfect living spot for young professionals and students who want easy access to everything the city has to offer. Being only minutes away from both the Elmwood Village and Allentown, our residents are never bored. Restaurants, bars, shops, and wonderful public art pieces line these streets, making them the most explorable in Buffalo. A quick trip on the Metro Rail takes you all the way down to Canalside, a fun waterfront area of Buffalo with more restaurants, bars, summer concerts, family events, and ice-skating. Right next to Canalside is the Keybank Center, where the most famous people play in concert and where the NFL’s Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bandits Lacrosse team host their home games. Like we mentioned before–a great location to live.
