So take a look at it a couple of times to ensure that it has everything you need: the length of your stay at this apartment, noise regulations, and building rules about pets.
Get to know your potential neighbors
Take advantage of the opportunity to talk to other tenants of the apartment building you’re touring. This not only will get you acquainted with your potential neighbors, but also gives you the chance to ask some questions that a landlord can’t answer, like their thoughts on the landlord! You can also talk to them about the area, the internet and other service providers, and also their personal experience with living there.
Get a good look in those kitchen cabinets (and other hidden areas)
Everything can look pristine on the outside, but it’s important to do some digging. When apartment hunting, that means opening up all the closed spaces. Check the cabinets in the kitchen and the closets in all rooms for signs of pests. If there is an infestation or one had occurred in the past, you’ll know by first glance. If everything appears to be in tip-top shape, then all you have to do is plan out where all of your dishes and mugs will go!
